I bought this refrigerator and it lasted a few years before the compressor died. Thankfully there was a class action lawsuit against LG The compressor was replaced for free. However the experience was very inconvenient. Then just recently the refrigerators water dispenser decided to turn on by itself in the middle of the night soaking our floor until we were able to get to the unit and open the door to cut off the water flow. Thankfully we were home when this happened or the damage would have been significant. I will be avoiding LG products in the future and will be going with AMERICAN MADE products that do not source their parts and materials from China.

The compressor died after only five years and I found out there is a lawsuit against LG for faulty compressors. They also do not stand by their warranty as I was told they would cover the cost of the part for 10 years. They only covered 290 dollars of the part because I did not use their repairman who was gonna take 10 day to get to the job.

I purchased this refrigerator in 2018. Its broken down at least every six months from time of purchase. Its always the same problem: does not cool. Ive lost all my groceries at least 5 times and lets not even talk about the mess this creates. I unfortunately am extremely dissatisfied with the unit.

Had this fridge less than 5 years and both the coil and the compressor have died. LG has no timeline on sourcing the parts for my repair and the tech said these fridges have consistently had issue. Much of the issue comes from aluminum parts and tubing that cant hold up over the long haul. Not sure Ill ever buy another LG appliance

The fridge has been working awesome for 4 years then all of a sudden the compressor goes. It was very surprising and disappointing. Luckily the part was covered by 5 year warranty and service came out in a few days to repair. So LG did a good job to fix issue but prefer there be no issue after only 4 years

I love the layout of this refrigerator but it keeps breaking down and now it is totally unrepairable. Last summer when the refrigerator was 5 years old we went on a 10-day vacation and sometime during those 10 days the refrigerator totally stopped working. We can home to rotten food - the smell was beyond description. The repairman came out and ordered some parts and 4 week later got the refrigerator running again. You wouldnt believe what we had to do to get the smell out. Now 10 months later it died again. Luckily we were home this time but now it is unrepairable and we have been without a refrigerator for another 2 weeks. Sad to hear that this is a know problem with this refrigerator

We did extensive research before choosing our LG Refrigerator and we really felt we made the right choice. Beauty function and had all the elements we were looking for at a reasonable price. We were extremely disappointed that just after 5 yrs 2 months of service the compressor died. A refrigerator to my understanding should last at least 12 + years. The estimated cost of repair was a thirds of the cost of a new one. I called LG and the customer service department worked with me to find a local LG repairman to repair it at a more reasonable cost. While I thought the price was more reasonable I felt that i should not have had to pay the full cost of labor. The part was covered by the warranty. Pleased my LG appliance was repaired but frowning on LG for not covering more of the expense. My expense over all exceeded $600 not including have to take a day and half off of work with NO pay. The LG repairman was Awesome Professional Courteous On time and Extremely Knowledgeable. But LG s phone customer service was just ok. In the end I Never should have had to go any of this. A refrigerator should last much longer than it did. Major inconvenience.

Compressor failed twice: once when it was still under warranty later when past warranty period by three months. Alas ALL NEW REFRIGERATORS STINK AND ARE NOT BUILT TO LAST. Two dated refrigerators in the garage both 14 years plus are still going strong. Next one will be a used one.

I loved it when I got it in 2016 during house renovation. Also bought LG stove and microwave at the same time with 5 year extended warranty. After 6 years problems started with the fridge running loud and moisture on outside doors. I called LG and was advised that there had been a lawsuit for this model and I would get free repairs. The local repair company came twice replaced the filter/condenser/compressor. The same issue has resurfaced. I like the design/features/size of LG but am extremely leery of buying another one. Very unhappy to have to replace it after only 7 years

In the second year of ownership the compressor failed 5 days before Christmas. LG arranged for and paid for the repair . Now 5 years later it freezes up in the fridge part and ices up in the freezer. I have to pay for the repair. The fridge is 7 years old. It should last longer than this.

Our refrigerator is having a horrible chemical smell that is permeating the food water ice. It is only 6 years old. Because the warranty is up they would not help at all. They would not send a tech even if I paid for it they wouldnt recommend anyone in my area. The warranty for some parts is still good and they wouldnt send anyone to see if that was the problem. The woman was confident that my problem was out of warranty without even sending someone to check it out. very disappointed. Will not buy another LG product.

I love the features on this refrigerator which we purchased new apx 8 1/2 years ago. Its a very nice looking refrigerator and was competitively priced when we purchased it. Unfortunately we have had major repair issues along the way Within the first few months of ownership the Master Circuit Processor failed. It was under full warranty and LG Customer Service was very responsive and timely in getting this repaired. An inconvenience none the less. Apx 3/12 years ago the compressor failed Fortunately again the compressor parts AND labor were covered and LG was great about their response and timeliness of their repairs. A few hundred dollars of spoiled food and a little more inconvenience and the problem was resolved. Now 3 1/2 years later and having issues with cooling the refrigerator and freezer again Ran the Smart Diagnosis and told my seals were not good on the doors and no indication of anything wrong with the cooling system. Had an independent repair person come out and said it is showing classic signs of the compressor going out again So Frustrating to say the least. At this point the compressor SHOULD still be covered under the original purchase warranty but the labor now IS NOT Waiting for a repair estimate to see how much it is going to cost to repair but the Company already told me to expect a pretty good size bill The repairs tech indicated that LGs are well made refrigerators but they make lousy Compressors and I was lucky to get more than 3 years out of mine I find this incredulous but I guess a sign of the times of the quality of products available these days. I am now looking at a large repair bill or the purchase of a brand new refrigerator Not too mention further inconvenience. Tech indicated that the LG compressor design and reliability issue has not been resolved so I am in a quandary as how to proceed. Certainly dont want to purchase another new LG and be faced with the same issues just a few years down the road.

We bought this unit back in May of 2018 when we moved from CA to TX and has worked very well. We did recently replace the compressor but it was under warranty and I only paid the service call. The unit is easy to clear and we love the large bottom freezer. So much better than a side to side.

Ive had this frig for a little over 4 years and was very happy with the look function and features. I love that I can get water out of one spout and ice out of another so I can easily get both with one hand without having to switch modes. I love that I can get ice and water from the outside and I like that the freezer has three compartments with one being a thin slide out tray where I can keep small items. Everything was great until the compressor went and it took a total of six service visits over the course of two+ weeks to get it repaired. It was however all covered under the original warranty so at least cost was not a factor....except for hundreds of dollors of spoiled food.

Water leaking behind ice maker and freezing ice maker door and tray. Corrosion on water in door area makes it look nasty instead of pristine. The fridge is beautiful but it was expensive and has already cost me time and repair bills. Quality is lacking.

We bought this fridge in 2019. Overall its a good fridge. The ice maker has issues periodically but the big one the compressor went out all at once with no warning at only 4 1/2 years old Our last fridge was right at 40 years old It went out when we kept having power surges and outages with Evergy. Thats when we bought this fridge. Lost ALLLL of our food and I had just went grocery shopping the day before. Hoping and praying this compressor lasts

Bought my fridge in 2019. Love it. Wanted the most inside space with a moderate footprint to fit in the kitchen. This one is perfect. Shelves and drawers are great everything adjustable. Ice maker keeps up with a family of 5.
4 years mark the compresser went out. Called LG customer service. A service call was made by LG to a local repair company. They were able to be out within 7 days to replace the compressor. All repairs parts and labor were covered by LGs warranty.

Looked long and hard for a new fridge with a big freezer. Love the 3 drawer system in the freezer and the gallon door capability. We loved it until the compressor broke and we lost a bunch of food and had to live out of a cooler for a few days. But glad Lg replaced the parts just outside of the 5 year labor coverage. The online and phone process for getting it fixed was confusing. But we eventually got there.

A brand new refrigerator should last longer than 4 years. Compressor quit working couldnt find a repair man to work on it. Dealt for 3 weeks with LG customer service only to be cut off repeatedly and left high and dry. Finally found my own technician and paid for a new compressor. He told me this is common with this brand of appliance. LG really needs to address this issue.

Eight years with this French Door Counter Depth refrigerator. Ample room for our needs. Maintains refrigerator and freezer temps well. Adjustable shelves and well-lit interior. Ice and water in the door work flawlessly. In day-to-day operation - an excellent refrigerator/freezer.
Now on to the problems: Two weeks after delivery Approx 03/14 bottom of the refrigerator compartment became completely frozen in ice - Yes the REFRIGERATOR So much so that the drawers would not pull out - they were trapped in ice. Service tech came out and we spent hours with hair-dryers melting all the ice and cleaning up the resultant flood. Tech could find nothing that would have caused this and offered the opinion that it was a one-time occurrence and left. Well you guessed it - Two weeks later same situation arose I did some research on-line and found a chat board frequented by LG Service Techs. One mentioned a very similar situation and the solution was to replace the mother board - it was defective as delivered. Showed the tech what I had found and after resolving the new frozen/flood scenario he ordered a new mother board. He was back with the new MOBO five days later - this time the frozen condition wasnt as bad and we cleaned it up fairly quickly. Installed the new MOBO and all has been well since.
Second major issue: Compressor failed after eight years. LGs Linear Compressor is guaranteed for ten years so the replacement compressor was covered under the warranty. Part covered - not the labor to install it which was ONLY slightly more expensive than the cost of the part. Big bucks to install a new compressor Two reasons this is a major problem - 1. Eight years is way too soon for the compressor to fail remember the good-old-days when refrigerators out-lived well almost anything and 2. The replacement compressor is only warranted for 90 days.

The refrigerator is just like the previous defective one we owned but the inside configuration is a bit simpler ... and seems deeper. What I am VERY DISPLEASED about is your registration website. Not only does it require a ridiculously long and complicated password but after setting it up and going back in the next day it would not let me in with the password that I established the day before. Horrible website and not user friendly at all Overall your company leaves a lot to be desired unfortunately.

Ive had this fridge 5 years now and it has died for the last time. Ive had 4 total food losses due to compressor failure and other software related issues.
What I like:
-Great looking fridge
-Good capacity for a counter depth
-Air filter always kept smells down
-Great slimline ice maker
-Smart storage layout
-Great tasting water with LG brand filters
What I didnt like:
-4 total food losses due to hardware / software failure
-Compressor was quite noisy even when brand new
-Compressor stopping when opening a door cant be good for the life of the compressor
I loved this fridge and I tried to stick with it but 5 failures in 5 years is just too much. Theres a lot that LG does very well but this was not my experience. Thankfully LG worked quickly during the warranty period to get me back up and running. Maybe Ill come back around to LG appliances in the future but I need a break.

We bought the fridge 2018 and we are not very happy about the quality of the compressor and fans of the fridge. Dec 2022 first the cooling fan stopped working and after a week fridge compressor went out spoiling food items reserved for Christmas dinner. I like the fridge but seems that it might require costly repairs every few years so I am not very happy with it.

Owned this LG for 4 years and compressor died. Tried getting a repair technician to look at the unit NO ONE will service LG. Class action lawsuit ended 2 months before my model was installed but even so a new compressor will do no good since the problem will recur According to all technicians I have spoken with. We are throwing this LG appliance away and replacing with Frigidaire. Good bye forever to LG and I hope no one else purchases this defective appliance.

We had a compressor problem with our refrigerator. Mr Han was punctual put down a plastic guard to protect our wood flooring and worked diligently and quietly the entire time.

Bought this refrigerator in 06/2018 and the freezer died in January 2022. Bought a new and larger LG refrigerator model # LRFDS3016S . Much larger and more features but after only 10 months the in the door ice maker has malfunctioned. Waiting for repair service now. Very disappointed with both refrigerators.

This refrigerator was sold by LG with known design defects in the compressor and it refuses to take responsibility. There were multiple class action lawsuits in multiple countries on the same faulty compressors. When you try to talk to someone in charge at customer service you get the run around and no results. I will never buy anything from LG again.
